In Pakistan, there are reports of keeping the dead or patients in private hospitals for non-payment of dues, but this is not allowed in Saudi Arabian hospitals.
According to foreign media, the Saudi Ministry of Health has said that according to Article 30 of the Law of Private Health Institutions and the Rules of Procedure, they are not allowed to keep the deceased or the patient in the hospital for non-payment of dues.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Health, it is said that it is absolutely not correct to withhold the dead body or not to hand over the newborn to the parents and to use the non-payment of the bill as an excuse because no health institution is authorized to hold the dead body. No and neither can prohibit the discharge of the newborn or the patient from the hospital, but the health institution can sign a bond regarding the obligations.
The Health Department has issued a warning in this regard and said that the inspectors will continue their investigative visits to implement the health law. Violations will be handed over to the relevant committees on record and all possible justice will be given to the victims of the violators.
