Mumbai: Apple CEO Tim Cook has inaugurated India’s first regular Apple Store in Mumbai. Tim greeted and chatted with customers as they entered the store.
Tim is expected to remain in India for now and will also inaugurate a second Apple store in Delhi this Thursday. According to the analysts, on the one hand, Apple Corporation will be helped in reaching the customers, on the other hand, the stages of manufacturing of Apple products in India will also be decided.
According to Tim, his company has been operating in India for 25 years and opening a regular (physical) store is a welcome development. Interestingly, although this store has been opened within Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, it is also the most energy efficient store in the world.
The store generates all its energy from solar cell panels and is also quite eco-friendly. It should be noted that despite all the growth, Apple’s share of the Indian market is only 6% as Samsung phones are extremely popular there as well. After that, Xiaomi and Vivo phones are also used.
Before the store, Apple products in India were sold online, with third-party resellers playing an important role. However, it will be possible to buy all Apple products under one roof.
Most importantly, Apple has been manufacturing its phones in India since 2017, which has seen phenomenal growth. In this way, local people developing apps for the Apple Store have also benefited. There are a million developers in India alone who are creating apps for the iPhone and other products.
