China has deployed warships around the island in response to Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen’s meeting with the speaker of the US House of Representatives.
According to the AFP news agency, on Wednesday, the Taiwanese president met with US Speaker Kevin McCarthy in Los Angeles.
Later, Sai Ing Wen expressed his gratitude and said that the meeting shows that his country is not alone in the world.
It should be noted that China had repeatedly warned both sides that it would give a strong response in the event of a meeting.
A few hours before the meeting, China had deployed an aircraft carrier near Taiwan, while the presence of three more warships was also learned later.
President Tsai Ing-wen said that politicians of both parties in the United States gave him a warm welcome.
Speaking to reporters, President Tsai Ing-wen said, “With the presence and unwavering support of American politicians, the people of Taiwan believe that we are not alone.”
For the past 70 years, Taiwan has been running its own affairs as an independent country, yet China is determined to occupy it as part of its territory.
After meeting with members of the US Congress from both sides of the aisle, I was heartened by their strong bipartisan support for #Taiwan. Thank you to @SpeakerMcCarthy & all our American friends. When we stand together, we are all stronger. pic.twitter.com/HVw2WqxBXz

In August last year, in response to former US Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, China held its largest air and naval war drills.
China has deployed warships, missiles and fighter jets around Taiwan, but this time China’s response is a little lower.
The Taiwanese president stopped in the state of California on his way back from a visit to the South American countries of Guatemala and Belize, where he met with Speaker Con McCarthy.
At the start of the visit last week, China warned that it would take “strong countermeasures” if the meeting took place.
China added that Tsai Ing-wen’s meeting with US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy would be another provocation that violates the One China principle.
