NORTHUMBERLAND: American psychiatrist and author of several books, Dr. Thema Bryant, says that if your loved one is exhibiting one or more of these seven things, they need psychological and neurological support and treatment. Thus, with timely intervention and treatment, this situation can be prevented from worsening in the first stage.

    Delay in responding to texts

According to Dr. Thema, although the psychological evidence may vary from person to person, one common trait among them is that when they are given a message or a conversation on the phone, they tend to respond late. Similarly, while writing text, their speed becomes very slow.

If a friend has been texting you for a while and is no longer contacting you, it can still be useful to let them know. This is because people in depression tend to feel lonely and less social.

Stretching of the skin, hair and nails

It is another important sign that people suffering from psychotic disorders tend to pull their hair, nails and skin. Maybe this way they find peace. The skin pulling or scratching condition is called ‘dermatolomania’ and affects one in 20 people in their lifetime.

According to Dr. Thema, if people cannot express themselves, they show it through this process. Many people have no idea how to pull hair or skin.

    Defeated and desperate talk

Often you are sitting with your friends and if one person declares himself as a loser and curses, this can also be a psychological disorder. According to Dr. Thema, such people say, ‘I can’t do it, or why can’t I get a job, etc.’

In extreme cases, they describe themselves as worse and inferior. Hopelessness and utter desperation come out in their words. Such people need immediate help.

    Fear of children and pets

People with psychotic conditions are often irritable and even fearful of children and pets because they are going through a difficult time emotionally.

Some people also take out their anger on children and pets, according to Dr. Thema Bryant. Thus they drop their debris on helpless and harmless bodies because they declare themselves worthless and helpless in the outside world.

There comes a time that children themselves start to fear such people.

    Weight gain or loss

According to Dr. Thema, sudden weight gain or loss occurs in mental diseases. In depression, a person either eats less or indiscriminately overeats, which can lead to both obesity and weight loss. Then such people stay away from exercise and walks etc. and thus fat is formed on the body.

A haphazard pile of personal belongings

According to Dr. Thema, the scattering of clothes, books and other personal belongings in the house also indicates mental stress. The reason is that the restless thoughts themselves affect them in such a way that they do not take interest in keeping their belongings safe.

They may be comforted by scattered random objects, but this is also a very common condition that indicates psychological disorders.

    Getting angry over trivial things

Too much anger over small things is also due to psychological condition. These range from delayed meals to increased electricity bills. Even if your child takes too long to tie their shoelaces, the tantrums start to occur.

According to experts, in these conditions it is very important to provide comfort to the sick person and encourage him to approach the doctor.
