New Delhi/Washington: A recent report authored by experts from India and the United States has brought to light a clandestine network of financial support from the United States directed towards the Hindu extremist organization known as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Titled “Foreign Exchange of Hate,” the report sheds light on covert funding received by the RSS and its various extremist factions, with allegations suggesting that substantial amounts of Indian rupees have been provided by the United States. This funding has purportedly been channeled through various aid organizations and charities, using them as a front.
The report points to the India Development and Relief Fund, based in Maryland, as one of the conduits through which financial assistance has been funneled to the Hindu extremist organization RSS. Furthermore, “The Campaign to Stop Funding Hate” (CSFH) report reveals that a sum of three million dollars was granted to the Sangh Parivar in 2002. Notably, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, an anti-Muslim Hindu extremist organization, has also purportedly received millions of dollars in funding. Additionally, Seva International and the Infinity Group, both associated with the RSS, are implicated in receiving substantial funding in the millions of dollars.
The report further highlights the alleged disbursement of millions of dollars to Meher Meghani of the Hindu American Foundation. A separate investigation conducted by the South Asian Citizen Web suggests that over a period spanning from 2001 to 2014, in excess of 30 million dollars were transferred to RSS-affiliated accounts, disguised as charitable contributions.
It is important to note that the Hindu extremist organization RSS, which has been accused of oppressing minority groups, particularly Muslims, operates with the tacit approval of the Modi government in India. The organization is known to train its members in tactics associated with terrorism. Moreover, various research studies have provided evidence of a direct nexus between the RSS and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in relation to extremist activities.
The report, authored by reputable investigative experts from India and the United States, is being regarded as a comprehensive indictment of state-sponsored terrorism. In light of the findings published by international organizations, there is a strong call for an investigation into the activities of the RSS with regards to terrorism.
