Riyadh: The inauguration of a driverless bus, entirely manufactured within Saudi Arabia, took place at King Saud University, marking a significant technological advancement in the country.
As reported by Urdu News, the driverless bus was inaugurated by Saleh Al-Jasser, the Saudi Minister of Communications and Logistics Services, along with Yusuf Al-Banyan, the Minister of Education, at King Saud University in Riyadh.
The Ministry of Communications has revealed that this autonomous bus has a seating capacity of 11 individuals. Once fully charged, it can operate continuously for up to 6 hours, reaching a maximum speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
Furthermore, the Ministry highlighted that King Saud University aims to provide transportation services for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to maintaining an eco-friendly environment and mitigating carbon pollution.
It is worth noting that the driverless bus is proudly Saudi-made, with its design and manufacturing completed entirely within Saudi Arabia. Equipped with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technology, cameras, and sensors, it ensures optimal performance and safety.
To further enhance its capabilities, the bus incorporates the latest remote system, as well as advanced light and laser ranging systems, enhancing its navigation and obstacle detection capabilities
