Islamabad: The Ministry of Religious Affairs will start the process of receiving applications under the government scheme for Hajj 2023 from today, however, the services of 14 national banks have been hired in this regard.
Apart from ZTBL, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has opened foreign currency accounts in the remaining 13 banks. This year, a total of 17 lakh 9 thousand 210 pilgrims will perform Hajj under public and private schemes, in which half of the number will perform Hajj under public and half under private schemes. Half of the applicants under the government scheme will avail the sponsorship scheme facility. They will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis without drawing lots.
Local deposit of dollars shall be prohibited for any applicant under the sponsorship scheme. According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Hajj dues under the sponsorship scheme will be deposited in the foreign currency account of the Ministry of Religious Affairs titled “Hajj Collection 2023MORA-”.
