Washington: US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has said that he does not support or oppose any particular politician or party in Pakistan, but demands to ensure democratic principles and the rule of law.
According to the World News Agency, the spokesperson of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, condemned the attack on the gas and oil facilities in Hangu region of Pakistan in the weekly briefing and said that he is watching the situation of Pakistan carefully.
A journalist asked a question about the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leaders and workers, to which Matthew Miller said that he is not in a position to comment on any particular party or leader, but the US is committed to democratic principles, freedom of speech and law in Pakistan. Emphasizes respect for the rule of law and its equitable application.
Mathew Miller added that we insist on respect for democratic principles, equal application of laws, freedom of expression and rule of law in any country anywhere in the world and demand the same in Pakistan.
It should be noted that after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan, during the protests that took place across the country, public places including GHQ and Corps Commander’s House were set on fire.
Since the violent protests, key leaders and workers were detained in the crackdown operation against Tehreek-e-Insaf, after which many members of the assembly and leaders, including former federal minister Sherry Mazari and Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chauhan, have announced to quit the party and politics.
