LONDON: (Shadesofgalaxy) Council Tax introduced in London, bus and train fares increased by a record 6%.
According to media reports, London Mayor Sadiq Khan says that this increase is due to the government not providing necessary funds.
After the fare hike, tube fares were hiked by 12% during busy zone 1 hour and 20% for off-peak.
In addition, the Day Travel Card for zones 1-6 has been increased by £4, Tube fares for zones 1-4 have increased by 70 pence.
Media reports indicate that the price of a weekly pass has increased by £1.40, while council tax per London household has risen by 9.7%.

The increase in rent and council tax will come into effect from April 1.
