Forced transfer of wheat to government warehouses, fear of flour crisis in Karachi before Ramadan

Karachi: Due to the decision of the Food Department of Sindh to stop the wheat trucks coming to Karachi from inside Sindh and transfer them to government warehouses, there is a fear of flour crisis in Karachi even before Ramadan.

Pakistan Flour Manufacturers Association Sindh Chaudhry Ameer told Express that the officials of Sindh Food Department have stopped and seized 15 trucks of wheat coming from inside Sindh at Kathor and National High, which the Flour Manufacturers Association has severely criticized. Condemned.

He said that wheat was forcibly unloaded in the government godowns in Landhi, the private sector had ordered to supply wheat to flour mills in Karachi, while the government demanded flour from the flour mills so that the price of flour would be cheaper when the factories needed it. be . If wheat is not available in abundance, how will flour be cheap?

10,000 tons of wheat is milled in Karachi every day, while 3,000 to 4,000 tons of wheat coming to Karachi daily from inside Sindh is also stopped, which is a sad matter. Wheat is not produced in Karachi, but wheat is procured from interior Sindh for the preparation of flour.
