Execution of former defense minister, decision to recall British Iranian ambassador

According to foreign media, the Iranian judiciary has sentenced Ali Reza Akbari to death for his role in the murder of nuclear scientist Mohsin Fakhrzada, as well as spying for Britain.

Tehran: (Shadessofgalaxy) Britain has decided to temporarily recall its ambassador from Iran in response to the killing of former Deputy Defense Minister Ali Reza Akbari, a British citizen in Iran.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly says he will temporarily withdraw his ambassador from Iran while the next steps are determined in consultation, according to the British news agency.

The United Kingdom, while reacting to the killing of Ali Reza Akbari in Iran, also imposed sanctions on the Iranian Prosecutor General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri.

It should be noted that yesterday, Iran executed former Deputy Defense Minister Ali Reza Akbari on charges of espionage for Britain.

According to foreign media, the Iranian judiciary has sentenced Ali Reza Akbari to death for his role in the murder of nuclear scientist Mohsin Fakhrzada, as well as spying for Britain.

Ali Raza Akbari held the post of Deputy Minister of Defense from 1997 to 2005 under President Mohammad Khatami.

The former deputy defense minister was arrested in 2019 and sentenced to death on Wednesday.

According to foreign media, Britain has called Ali Raza Akbari’s death sentence as a political motive and demanded his immediate release.
