Abu Dhabi: A European national has been found guilty of theft in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after stealing a pair of trousers from a retail store. The court has issued a sentence in response to the crime committed.
According to Urdu News, the theft of a pair of trousers from a renowned company in Dubai has had severe consequences for the European citizen, as the court has ordered a prison term and a monetary fine.
The European individual expressed an interest in a pair of trousers with a price tag of 1375 dirhams. At the checkout counter, the individual paid 575 dirhams for a shirt, concealing the stolen pants in a bag. The representative of the shopping center provided additional details, stating that the European citizen had selected the preferred trousers and proceeded to the fitting room. After secretly placing the pants in the bag, the individual exited the fitting room and made the payment for the shirt only, leaving the store premises.
In response to the theft incident, the Dubai Court has sentenced the European citizen to one month of imprisonment and ordered the payment of the stolen trousers’ value.
The European resident has provided a statement to the police regarding the theft incident, and the court, demonstrating leniency, has imposed a one-month prison sentence, expulsion from the country, and mandated the payment of the trousers’ cost
