KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi recovered and seized 13 thousand smuggled Boston Injections on a tip-off to eliminate the organized network of Boston injection smuggling.
Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmed told Express that the directorate has confirmed information that organized network is involved in smuggling through which milk-enhancing injections are being smuggled to Pakistan from different countries of the world.
These injections are temporarily stored at various locations in the city and then supplied to dairy farms where they are used to artificially increase milk production in cows and buffaloes.
Customs intelligence sources said that specific information was received that a large quantity of Boston Injection was being transported near Regent Plaza Hotel, Shahrah Faisal, on which the Directorate of Customs Intelligence immediately formed a team of smuggling organizations. The team reached the said place and stopped a suspicious person and searched the box with him. In that box, 5105 Boston injections were found wrapped in plastic sheets.
The man identified himself as Muhammad Ali alias Ali Gatha and claimed ownership of Bostin injections. Sources say that during the investigation, it was revealed that he and his accomplice Mustafa Sikandar alias Mustafa Motiwala smuggle these injections from different airports of the country.
During interrogation, Muhammad Ali provided information about the whereabouts of his associate Mustafa Sikandar. The arrested accused were presented in the court and remanded, during the investigation it was found that there is a large stock of illegally smuggled Boston injections in the house located in Nazimabad, on which the Customs Intelligence obtained a warrant. The house was raided and 8,000 Boston injections were recovered from there and a person named Muneeb Ahmed was arrested.
The investigation also revealed that these injections are supplied to the accused Hemon Das, a veterinarian who supplies them to different areas of the city, especially Buffalo Colony, around Super Highway Karachi. Goth has been arrested.
The physical remand of both Muneeb Ahmed and Hemon Das has been obtained, the total value of 13 thousand syringes seized is estimated to be Rs 36 million (36 million).
