Washington: The American Heart Association (AHA), a prominent medical body, has said that children are very interested in learning how to save lives. These include making emergency calls and procedures such as CPR.
In this regard, the AHA has also developed a course that can help children learn life-saving measures. The AHA adds that children can acquire the skills to perform chest compressions in a very systematic manner, to coordinate the process with breathing, and to perform chest compressions effectively at an early age.
The advantage of this is that children develop this habit from an early age and they become experts in this work by adulthood. School children are very passionate about this and can even know the condition of cardiac arrest or heart attack.
According to the report, children at the age of four can contact the helpline number. A ten-year-old child can perform CPR very well.
This research report was published on May 17, the details of which can be found in the journal Circulation. In this context, more than 100 research papers discussing teaching CPR to students around the world have been reviewed.
In summary, children who learn CPR at an early age learn more and become more proficient in first aid and CPR throughout their lives. In addition, they also transfer their knowledge and skills to others.
It should be noted that most of the cardiac arrest deaths, whether in the US or Pakistan, occur outside the hospital and therefore it is very important that the general public is aware of CPR and other measures.
In essence, children should be accustomed to it at an early age.
