Karachi: Due to the carelessness and negligence of the PIA administration, it has been revealed that the airline has suffered a loss of more than three billion rupees due to two accidents of ATR planes.
This disclosure has been made in the Auditor General of Pakistan’s Audit Report 2021-22.
In the audit report, holding the PIA administration responsible for the accidents, it has been said that due to the negligence and carelessness of the management of the national airline, the accidents of ATR aircrafts occurred at Karachi and Gilgit Airports, due to which the airline had to pay 2 There was a loss of more than a billion rupees.
The report states that due to ATRK accidents, the national airline had to bear a total loss of 2 billion 79 crore 60 lakh rupees.
On November 24, 2018, an ATR plane crash at Karachi Airport caused a loss of about one billion 40 crore rupees. Later on July 20, 2019, more or less the same amount of damage was suffered in the plane crash at Gilgit Airport.
In the investigation report of the Civil Aviation Authority, various causes of the accidents were mentioned. The investigation report also mentioned malfunctioning of maintenance related equipment, lack of professionalism in airline maintenance crew, failure to implement SOPs, delay in taking timely decisions and role of first officer.
In the inquiry made by the airline management, the answer was based on the mistakes of the pilots. Instructions were given to share the auditors’ inquiry report and take disciplinary action against the concerned officials.
