The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has granted approval for a tariff adjustment in the cost of electricity specifically for the city of Karachi. This adjustment entails an increment of 55 paise per unit of electricity consumed.
This increase has been authorized as part of the second quarter adjustment for the preceding fiscal year. NEPRA has forwarded its decision to the federal government to be officially notified.
The implementation of the revised tariff will result in additional collections from May to July of the year 2023. The federal government had approached NEPRA with the objective of establishing a standardized electricity tariff across the country. NEPRA, after considering the request from the federal government, issued this decision.
