A court in Dubai, located in the United Arab Emirates, has recently reached a verdict in a drug possession case involving an Arab woman and her friend. The court has sentenced the woman to imprisonment and subsequent deportation, while her friend has been issued a monetary fine.
As reported by international media outlets, the Dubai court ruled that the Arab woman would serve a one-month prison sentence for the offense of drug possession. Additionally, she would be expelled from the Emirates and subjected to a two-year ban on remittances. On the other hand, her friend received a prison sentence for aiding and abetting her in the illegal activity, alongside a monetary fine amounting to five thousand dirhams.
According to the available information, officials from the anti-narcotics agency apprehended the Arab woman following a tip-off. Concurrently, her intoxicated friend was also detained from the woman’s residence. During the subsequent search, the woman voluntarily retrieved the concealed drugs from her underwear and surrendered them to the police.
In her confession, the woman acknowledged that she had procured the drugs through online channels, specifically from a businessman who conducted the transaction via WhatsApp. During her statement to the police, she disclosed that she had transferred funds to the aforementioned businessman electronically and subsequently visited the address provided by him to obtain the drugs.
Following their arrest, the woman and her friend were handed over to the public prosecution, which then referred their case to the court for further legal proceedings
